If you are interested in applying for a DETERLab account, choose the use case that best describes you and follow the steps to create the appropriate project and/or user account. For links to the forms mentioned below, please see Registering to Use DETERLab on our support site.

In general, applications for DETERLab use must be from a project leader or PI creating a new project, a team member joining an existing project, or an educational user (instructor or student). If none of the following apply, you still may be eligible to use DETERLab for research. Please contact us to learn more.

Note: If you already have a DETERLab account, please login in first. This will help streamline the process.

If you are a Principal Investigator or project leader of a research project:

Fill out the new project application form to provide information about you and your project. The DETER team will confirm your eligibility and set up your user account as the project leader.

After the registration is approved, you will be contacted by email with specific information about user credentials, access, and user management.

At this point, you may instruct your project's other team members to use the apply for project membership form to join your project in DETERLab.

If you are a member of a project that will be working in DETERLab, but you do not have a DETERLab account yet:

Use the apply for project membership form to both create your DETERLab account and join the project. You can obtain the name of the DETERLab project from your PI.

If you are a student who wants to use DETERLab for your own research:

A faculty sponsor must first fill out the new project application form.

Then you may use the apply for project membership form to create your DETERLab account. You can obtain the name of the DETERLab project from your sponsor.

If you are a student taking a class that uses DETERLab:

You do not need to take any action – your instructor will create accounts and assign them to students.

If you are university faculty or staff who will be teaching a course using DETERLab's educational facilities:

Fill out the new project application form and explain that you will be using this project for educational purposes.

After the registration is approved, you will receive instructions about the educator support tools of DETERLab, and how you can create accounts for your students.
